Key Stage 3
Children at Discovery often come from an unsettling school experience - it could be the many changes in staff, a variety of approaches or being misunderstood as a young person. It is vital that they settle into school life with confidence and acquire the skills to show their true potential and academic abilities as they move up the years and closer to external assessments.
Academic progress is important; functional skills are vital but a sense of self worth and self knowledge are essential tools for future life. In Key Stage 3, Year 7 to 8 we continue the Key Stage 2 approach of having a close nurturing feel to class teams and then developing that into a more independent (but not abandoned!) approach in Year 9 as preparation for Key Stage 4.
