From the minute I arrived at Discovery there was just a warm, calming atmosphere, combined with that elusive thing you can’t quite put your finger on but which tells you this is a really good place
In Discovery Academy we believe all young people deserve the best education possible.
Our aim is to deliver an ‘outstanding’ education using personalised programmes and by releasing student potential. Discovery Academy provides a healthy, safe and enjoyable environment, with excellent teaching.
Our ethos and approach matches the underpinning values of our Trust and also our sponsor MacIntyre. Our vision is to ensure young people with autism and/or social, emotional and mental health needs receive the same first-class education enjoyed by other students.
Children are at the heart of all we do. Each day brings new opportunities and a fresh start; positivity and individual approaches are used to ensure that each student is valued, supported, understood and able to make the greatest possible progress.
Our policies and practice, particularly for Safeguarding, Health & Safety and Behaviour epitomise our approach of the academy. We work with clear guidelines, high expectations and with the young people’s best interests as the driver.
Families are real partners in our work. We work with and within the local community to enhance the work of the academy and equip our learners to take their places, as confident and responsible citizens, in 21st century UK life.
