Family Footings
Working in partnership is key to our ethos of ‘Putting children and families first’.
Our Family Footings Facilitators are an extra layer of support for families through the life of the school. They offer flexible, honest and accessible support to parents and carers and also work closely with other professionals involved in the lives of Discovery pupils as needed.
You can contact Donna, Stacey or Dawn our Family Footings team through the office
Admissions
Right from the start, Family Footings arrange Home Visits to get to know the young people and their families before their first day at school. We want to offer the best start possible to this new environment by gathering the right information about the individual to support transition into school.
Transition Into School
We work with classroom staff to ease the transition into school life - making sure there is good communication with families and school and helping pupils adapt to the new people and environments they are discovering.
Ongoing support and communication
We keep in touch with families both informally and supporting formal review settings to make check that each pupil is getting the right personalised education that makes sense to them.
In addition to support for individual families we are here to support opportunities for networking among parents and carers.
